Odaily reported that crypto KOL and DeFi OG Chen Mo recently posted on X about L2 Blob submission data, raising questions about the on-chain activity of World Chain. According to his post, when L2 networks are ranked by Blob submissions, Base holds the first position “without any suspense,” while World Chain (WLD) unexpectedly appears in second place.
World Chain ranks second by Blob submissions
Chen Mo said the higher the Blob submission figure is, the greater the transaction volume and the busier the network are understood to be. Based on the data he cited, World Chain has remained directly behind Base in second place since 2025, and has even ranked ahead of Arbitrum for long periods. For an L2 whose on-chain application ecosystem does not appear crowded, this ranking creates a contrast with the visible state of its ecosystem.
The central question he raised was: “Who exactly is using it?” From the data perspective, Chen Mo said World Chain appears to show stable usage demand. However, from the perspective of applications on the chain, he noted that there do not seem to be many apps. He also said that, aside from using World Chain a few times on Morpho, he has rarely used it in other scenarios.
A gap between ecosystem visibility and specific use cases
Chen Mo then directed the question toward specific Worldcoin ecosystem use cases. In his post, he mentioned areas such as identity and payments, and asked whether those specific scenarios within the Worldcoin ecosystem have generated such a large increase in activity. His post did not provide an additional conclusion, but instead framed the issue around the difference between Blob submission volume and the apparent richness of on-chain applications.
The discussion centers on a mismatch between data rankings and ecosystem perception. On one side, World Chain has remained close behind Base in L2 Blob submissions. On the other side, Chen Mo described its on-chain application ecosystem as extremely sparse, while also saying his own use of the chain has been limited. The question behind the data is therefore focused on where World Chain’s real usage is coming from and how much of it is tied to Worldcoin’s identity, payment and other specific application scenarios.
