BlockBeats reported on July 17, citing PC supply chain sources, that ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CXMT, has entered the final stage of its IPO process. The same sources said PC brands have accelerated orders for CXMT memory, with bookings reportedly extending through the end of 2027. According to the report, the shift comes as China-U.S. tensions have eased and Apple has allegedly tested CXMT memory while lobbying the U.S. government to allow its use. Sources also said major PC vendors have already completed product testing, but actual supply will still depend on quota allocation. The report added that memory prices may see slower gains in the second half of 2026, but are still expected to keep rising. Brands are said to be passing part of the higher cost on to consumers. End-product price increases have started to weigh on sales, though sources said the market has not yet reached a breaking point. Large customers including Dell, HP, Lenovo and Apple are expected to get priority access, while smaller manufacturers may be left off supply lists. Supply chain sources also said the U.S. had at one point considered adding CXMT to the Entity List, though no such move has been announced.

ChangXin Memory Technologies, or CXMT, has entered the final stage of its IPO process, according to a July 17 report from BlockBeats citing PC supply chain sources.

Those sources said PC brands are speeding up orders for CXMT memory as China-U.S. tensions ease. They also claimed Apple has tested CXMT memory and lobbied the U.S. government to permit its use. Related orders are reportedly booked through the end of 2027.

Memory prices are still expected to rise

Supply chain sources said memory price increases may narrow in the second half of 2026, but prices are still expected to keep moving higher. Brands are passing part of the added cost on to consumers. Higher retail prices have already started to weigh on sales, though sources said the market has not yet hit a critical point.

Even so, manufacturers are still actively seeking memory supply, and CXMT remains one of the key sources.

Allocation will determine who gets supply

According to the report, major PC makers have completed testing of CXMT products, but whether they can secure shipments still depends on quota allocation. Large customers including Dell, HP, Lenovo and Apple are expected to receive priority, while smaller vendors may not make the supply list.

Sources also pointed to U.S. restriction concerns

Supply chain sources said the U.S. had previously considered placing CXMT on the Entity List, but no related action has been announced.

They also said Apple plans to use products equipped with Chinese memory only for the China market. Some PC brands view that as a sign that restrictions could ease, and that has pushed them to increase orders with both CXMT and Yangtze Memory Technologies.
