DWF Labs said the market has yet to fully price in the potential of a deeper convergence between artificial intelligence and the crypto sector. In its view, the rise of agent-based trading and payments could allow AI systems to help retail users process more information, make faster decisions and even build their own capital management infrastructure, while meaningful capital has still not flowed into crypto at scale.
The firm argued that frontier capital is currently being directed more heavily toward space, robotics and AI, partly because the market had earlier assumed crypto would not benefit from AI in the same way software companies might. As AI moves from capital expenditure and model development into the execution stage, DWF Labs said the cycles of AI and crypto may begin to overlap more directly.
It highlighted several areas it is watching: DePIN to address bottlenecks in data, energy and distributed inference compute; identity systems for human verification in an environment with more agents; and payments that use crypto assets for AI inference services. DWF Labs also said compute markets running on crypto networks could become a theme over the next year.
DWF Labs said the market has not yet fully priced the potential of a convergence between artificial intelligence and the crypto industry.
The firm said that as agent-based trading and payments gradually gain traction, AI could help retail users process more information, make decisions faster and build their own capital management infrastructure. Even so, it said related capital has not yet entered the crypto sector on a large scale.
Capital is still flowing elsewhere
According to DWF Labs, frontier capital is currently flowing more toward space, robotics and AI. The market had earlier assumed that the crypto industry would not benefit from AI in the same way software companies might.
DWF Labs said that as AI moves from capital expenditure buildout and model development into the execution stage, the cycles of AI and crypto may begin to intersect. It added that the more digitalized the environment becomes, and the more capable AI agents become, the greater the likely demand for crypto infrastructure.
Areas DWF Labs is watching
DWF Labs said compute markets operating on crypto networks could become a potential theme over the next year.
- DePIN, to address AI bottlenecks in data, energy and distributed inference compute;
- Identity, to provide human verification in an environment with a growing number of agents;
- Payments, using crypto assets as a payment method for AI inference services.
