According to PeckShield's on-chain monitoring, an Ethereum-based MEV (Maximal Extractable Value) bot mistakenly sent 167 ETH—equivalent to roughly $300,000—to the address of a random user on June 5, 2026. The incident was flagged by the security firm as an accidental transfer.

MEV bots are widely deployed on Ethereum to capitalize on arbitrage opportunities, liquidations, and transaction ordering. Their operations depend heavily on precise smart contracts; a single misconfiguration or coding oversight can cause unintended fund movements. In this case, the transaction has been finalized on the blockchain, and the recipient appears to be an ordinary wallet holder with no prior relationship to the bot. Whether the assets will be retrieved through negotiation remains to be seen.
