Odaily reported that the Federal Reserve’s dot plot shows only 18 of 19 officials submitted rate projections. For the remainder of 2026, the submitted projections are split across several paths: nine officials in total believe rate hikes should be taken, eight officials believe rates should remain unchanged, and one official believes rates should be cut by a cumulative 25 basis points.

Breakdown of projected rate moves

Among the nine officials who favor higher rates, one official believes the Fed should raise rates by a cumulative 75 basis points over the remainder of 2026. Five officials believe the cumulative increase should be 50 basis points, while three officials believe the cumulative increase should be 25 basis points. By headcount, the 50-basis-point hike group is the largest within those projecting increases.

The dot plot is a summary of Federal Reserve officials’ submitted projections for the interest-rate path. In this set of figures, eight of the 18 submitting officials see no change in rates, close to the nine officials calling for hikes, while one official sees a cumulative 25-basis-point cut. The information was reported by Jinshi.
