Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said Friday that he would not make advance judgments about upcoming interest-rate decisions and did not indicate whether the Fed will raise rates again at its Oct. 27-28 policy meeting or leave short-term rates unchanged, as markets expect. Speaking at the 2026 IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok, Warsh said the central bank had already made its stance clear with its September rate increase. He said the Fed had "been very clear that we will achieve price stability and have withdrawn some degree of monetary policy accommodation." Warsh also stressed that he would not signal in advance what he may support at the Fed's remaining meetings this year, saying it would be inappropriate to telegraph those decisions before the meetings take place.

Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh said Friday he would not make advance judgments about interest-rate decisions and did not say whether the Fed will continue raising rates at its Oct. 27-28 monetary policy meeting or leave short-term rates unchanged, as markets expect.

Warsh made the remarks at the 2026 IMF and World Bank annual meetings in Bangkok. Referring to the Fed's September rate increase, he said the central bank had "been very clear that we will achieve price stability and have withdrawn some degree of monetary policy accommodation."

On upcoming meetings, Warsh said: "I will not prejudge the decision of any meeting. I do not think it is appropriate right now to reveal in advance what action I might take at the remaining meetings this year."
