First Principles: From SpaceX to Finance
Lex Li, a former engineer at SpaceX, has founded Plan Execution Lab to bring the engineering discipline of first-principles thinking to financial markets. The team identifies three critical problems in today’s execution layer: fragmentation across different protocols and exchanges, over-reliance on human workflows that introduce latency and errors, and rapid strategy degradation that undermines automated systems. By breaking down financial execution to its most basic components, the lab aims to design a radically simpler and more efficient architecture.

PlanX Protocol and Xgent Autonomous Runtime
Plan Execution Lab has launched two core products: the PlanX financial execution protocol and Xgent autonomous financial runtime. PlanX standardizes on-chain execution flows, enabling different financial primitives to interoperate with minimal friction. Xgent acts as an intelligent agent layer that autonomously adjusts execution strategies in real time, reducing the need for manual oversight. Together, they form a dynamic, self-evolving execution network that can coordinate across diverse platforms.
From Centralized Exchanges to On-Chain Infrastructure
The project’s ultimate goal is to migrate the execution of financial assets from centralized exchanges to a decentralized, on-chain infrastructure. This shift promises greater transparency, security, and composability for users and developers. Lex Li believes that by making the execution layer open and permissionless, finance becomes more democratic and resilient. The lab is still in its early stages, but its first-principles approach has already attracted attention from industry observers interested in the next generation of financial technology.
