Each FPL Gameweek deadline is 90 minutes before that Gameweek’s first kick-off. The first 2026/27 deadline was 18:30 UK time on 21 August 2026.

Each Fantasy Premier League Gameweek deadline is 90 minutes before that Gameweek’s first kick-off. For 2026/27, the first deadline was 18:30 UK time on Friday 21 August 2026, before Arsenal v Coventry City kicked off at 20:00.

How FPL deadlines work

The rule is simple: once the first match of a Gameweek sets the opening kick-off, the deadline for that Gameweek sits 90 minutes earlier. Any change that should count in that round must be completed before then, including your starting 11, transfers, captain switch, vice-captain switch and substitution order.

After the deadline passes, changes only apply from the following Gameweek. FPL also states that once a deadline has passed, it cannot alter a team, transfers, captain, vice-captain, substitutes or chips for that Gameweek.

The schedules below are the official ones as of 15 September 2026. If the first kick-off in a Gameweek moves, the deadline moves with it, but never within 24 hours of the scheduled time; the official Status Page shows the current deadlines.

The season has 38 Gameweeks and 380 league matches. For the live version of the schedule, the official Status Page is the reference point because it lists the next deadline and the ones after it.

Other timing rules linked to deadlines

The 2026/27 game opened on 23 July 2026. From that point, managers could build a squad with a £100m budget and make unlimited transfers until the Gameweek 1 deadline.

If no line-up is submitted by the deadline, the previous line-up is used. That covers a missed submission, but it does not let later edits count in a Gameweek that has already closed.

Points can still change until 09:00 UK time on the day after the final match of a Gameweek. After that, no further adjustments are made except in extraordinary circumstances. Before 2026/27, the lock came one hour after the final whistle of the Gameweek’s last match; it was moved later to allow more time for post-match Opta review data to feed into the Bonus Points System and defensive contribution points.

Player prices follow a different clock. Once the season has started, prices can change at 00:00 UK time each day, so a price move and a Gameweek deadline do not operate on the same schedule.

FAQ

When did FPL open for the 2026/27 season?

It opened on 23 July 2026. From that day, managers could pick a squad and use unlimited transfers until the Gameweek 1 deadline.

Can changes in “Pick Team” still count after the deadline?

No. Once the deadline has passed, changes to the starting 11, captain, vice-captain, substitution priorities and chips cannot be applied to that Gameweek.

What happens if no line-up is submitted before the deadline?

The previous line-up is used. That means the team does not go blank for that round, but any edits made after the deadline still wait until the following Gameweek.

When do FPL points stop updating for a Gameweek?

They can change until 09:00 UK time on the day after the Gameweek’s final match. After that point, no more adjustments are made unless there are extraordinary circumstances.

Do player prices change at the same time as FPL deadlines?

No. Once the season is under way, player prices can change at 00:00 UK time each day, while each Gameweek deadline sits 90 minutes before that round’s first kick-off.
