Fantasy Premier League points come from real Premier League actions: goals are worth 4 to 10 depending on position, assists are worth 3, and clean sheets, saves, bonus and defensive contributions can add more, while cards, own goals and missed penalties take points away.

How minutes, clean sheets and assists are judged
FPL minutes come from official match data and do not include stoppage time. The 60th minute runs from 59:00 to 59:59, so a player substituted in that minute can still be recorded as having played only 59 minutes in FPL.
A clean sheet is awarded only if the player is on the pitch while no goal is conceded and has played at least 60 minutes, again excluding stoppage time. If the team concedes after that player has been substituted, the clean sheet is not lost.
An assist goes to the attacking player whose final touch comes directly before the goal. That can be a pass, a touch, including an inadvertent one, or a shot. Assists can also be awarded for own goals, and for winning a penalty or free-kick that is scored directly, unless the same player takes and scores it. Winning a corner or throw-in does not count. Opta reviews assists, and FPL makes the final decision with Opta.
Special rules that change scores
Defensive contribution points stay in place for 2026/27 after being introduced in 2025/26. They apply only to outfield players, not goalkeepers, and they do not stack once the match threshold has been reached.
An outfield player who goes in goal can earn save points, but clean-sheet scoring still follows that player's FPL position. So a midfielder in goal can collect saves and would still get only the midfielder clean-sheet score.
A player sent off keeps being penalised for goals conceded by his team after the dismissal. The red-card deduction already includes any yellow-card deduction, so the two are not added together.
The three best players in each match under the Bonus Points System receive bonus points of 3, 2 and 1.
Captain, bench, transfer hits and when points become final
The captain's score is doubled. The vice-captain benefits only if the captain does not play.
Bench players count toward the Gameweek total only when they come on as automatic substitutes for starting players who do not play. If the “Bench Boost” chip is active, bench points are also included.
In “Transfers”, every move beyond the available free transfers costs 4 points. That deduction is applied at the start of the next Gameweek.
Gameweek points can still change until 09:00 UK time on the day after the final match of that Gameweek. After that, no further adjustments are made except in extraordinary circumstances. For 2026/27, the lock time was moved later so post-match Opta review data could feed into bonus and defensive contribution scoring.
