Global asset manager Franklin Templeton has officially launched a dedicated cryptocurrency division, following the completion of its acquisition of digital asset firm 250 Digital. The new unit is part of the company's broader push into the digital assets space, focusing on the development and management of crypto-related products and blockchain solutions.
The launch comes amid a period of rapid expansion in tokenized assets. Over the past year, Franklin Templeton's onchain product suite has grown from approximately $768 million to more than $2.5 billion, reflecting a more than threefold increase. This growth underscores rising investor demand for blockchain-based financial instruments. The newly established crypto division will build on this momentum to drive further innovation in the space.
By closing the acquisition of 250 Digital, Franklin Templeton gains additional talent and technological capabilities to support its cryptocurrency initiatives. The firm's move signals a long-term commitment to the digital asset sector, as tokenized assets continue to gain traction among institutional and retail investors alike.
