On June 28, Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz commented that the recent Bitcoin decline is fundamentally driven by a "confidence collapse triggered by Strategy." The issue extends beyond Bitcoin's price itself; concerns over Strategy's financing model are spreading across the market.
Strategy's Financing Model Under Pressure, Market Confidence Shaken
As the largest public corporate holder of Bitcoin, Strategy's stock and preferred securities have become key barometers for traders assessing Bitcoin market risk. The company's Bitcoin flywheel effect has already been under strain, with its stock price trading at a discount to the value of its Bitcoin holdings. This challenges the multi-year model of "issuing equity at a premium to buy more Bitcoin." Novogratz noted that STRC (Strategy's preferred stock) is trading weakly and should be around $100. Currently, Strategy's annual dividend obligations have risen to approximately $1.2 billion, and its declining cash reserves mean dividend coverage is only about 14 months.
Macro Headwinds and Key Technical Support
Bitcoin also faces macro pressure. Novogratz summarized the prevailing market logic as "strong dollar equals weak Bitcoin." Hawkish central bank signals and a strengthening dollar are suppressing demand for risk assets. Technically, the $59,000 to $60,000 range has become a critical defense line for Bitcoin. If this support breaks, downside could open to $45,000. Novogratz admitted the situation is complex, with rebound and deep correction probabilities roughly 50-50.
Market Fragility Amplified by ETF Outflows
ETF outflows, weak liquidity, and cautious positioning in the options market further underscore market fragility. The health of Strategy's balance sheet, STRC price performance, and cash position are no longer just corporate issues—they have evolved into a broader confidence signal for the entire Bitcoin market.
