Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti said in a LinkedIn post that digital asset platforms are moving beyond trade execution and into a broader financial services role. User demand, he argued, now spans multi-asset allocation, money management, digital payments and new financial products, not just buying and selling tokens. Cunti pointed to stablecoins, tokenized assets, digital payments and multi-asset investment products as the forces pulling crypto closer to traditional finance. In his view, the trading venue is giving way to a comprehensive financial infrastructure that connects different products, markets and forms of value. He also stressed that security, transparency, compliance and reliable infrastructure will define the industry's long-term trajectory once digital asset services penetrate traditional finance more deeply. Gate Europe, for its part, is advancing its European compliance push: it has obtained both MiCA and PI licenses under Malta's Financial Services Authority (MFSA), strengthening its global compliance framework. Looking ahead, Cunti said the exchange will continue responsible innovation and build a more transparent, compliant and trustworthy environment for both retail and institutional users, offering access to a broader financial ecosystem.

Platforms outgrow their trading roots

Gate Europe CEO Dr. Giovanni Cunti has laid out a new vision for digital asset platforms in a LinkedIn post. The industry has matured, he argued, and platforms are now expected to do much more than execute trades. Client demand has widened to include multi-asset allocation, money management, digital payments and new financial products.

He identified four factors driving this shift: stablecoins, tokenized assets, digital payments and multi-asset investment vehicles. Those building blocks, in his view, are accelerating convergence between crypto and traditional finance. As a result, the platform itself is no longer just a single marketplace; it is becoming comprehensive financial infrastructure that ties together different products, markets and forms of value.

That transition comes with a condition. Once digital asset services push further into mainstream finance, the industry's long-term health will rest on security, transparency, compliance and reliable infrastructure, Cunti said.

Gate Europe's European roadmap

Gate Europe is pressing ahead with its European compliance work. Under Malta's Financial Services Authority (MFSA), the company has obtained both MiCA and PI licenses, reinforcing its global compliance setup. Cunti said the firm will carry on with responsible innovation, building a transparent, compliant and trustworthy environment for individual and institutional clients, while connecting them to a broader financial ecosystem.
