Odaily reported that CoinDesk’s latest exchange report showed a decline in overall trading activity across global centralized exchanges in May 2026. According to the report, combined spot and derivatives trading volume on centralized exchanges fell 3.45% to $4.41 trillion during the month.
Gate Led Major Exchanges in Spot Volume Growth
Against that broader pullback, Gate recorded growth in spot trading. The report stated that Gate’s spot trading volume increased 11.5% month on month to $43.8 billion. By spot trading volume growth, Gate ranked first among major global exchanges.
Gate’s spot market share also increased during the same period. The platform’s share rose by 0.66 percentage points to 4.55%, placing it among the top five global spot exchanges. The data showed that both Gate’s spot volume and spot market share improved while total centralized exchange trading volume declined.
Derivatives Volume and Open Interest Rankings
In derivatives, Gate maintained a leading position according to the figures cited in the report. Gate’s contract trading volume reached $327 billion in May, while its derivatives market share stood at 9.47%. This placed Gate fourth among global derivatives exchanges by market share.
For open interest, Gate held a 10.8% market share and ranked as the third-largest derivatives trading platform globally. Combining spot and derivatives performance, Gate ranked fourth worldwide by overall trading scale in May 2026.
The platform’s disclosed operating data also stated that Gate has surpassed 54 million registered users worldwide and supports more than 4,700 trading pairs. Gate Stocks allows users to trade more than 10,000 major U.S. market stocks and ETFs with USDT, and has listed more than 1,500 Hong Kong stock targets.
