GMX’s governance forum has published the GMLabs-003 proposal, outlining two changes across the protocol’s ecosystem. First, the proposal would direct all remaining protocol revenue from the Solana side, after GT buybacks are deducted, to repurchasing GMX. Tokens bought through that process would be added to the staking rewards pool, while the existing GT buyback mechanism would stay unchanged. Second, the proposal would introduce a 180-day unstaking waiting period for both existing and newly added GMX and esGMX staking positions on Arbitrum and Avalanche. The waiting period would begin when an unstaking request is submitted, and time already spent staked would not count toward that window. Pending unstaking requests could still be canceled, and current positions would not need to be migrated. According to the proposal, the changes are planned for Oct. 28, subject to implementation readiness.

GMX’s governance forum has published the GMLabs-003 proposal. It would allocate all remaining protocol revenue from the Solana side, after GT buybacks are deducted, to buying back GMX. The proposal also calls for a 180-day unstaking waiting period for existing and new GMX and esGMX staking positions on Arbitrum and Avalanche. That waiting period would start when an unstaking request is submitted, and time already spent in staking would not be counted.
