Google has opened what it describes as the world’s largest AI experience flagship store in Tokyo’s Omotesando district, turning the location into a hands-on space for consumers to try the company’s latest artificial intelligence features in person. The store spans from the basement level to the second floor, with AI-focused zones built around Pixel devices, Gemini applications, image and video generation tools, and interactive demos. According to data cited from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Apple currently leads Japan’s smartphone market with a 59% share, while Google holds 10%, placing the new store in a highly competitive market. The Omotesando site includes a workshop area for regular seminars on Google’s newest products and services, sales of official merchandise including Japan-exclusive canvas bags and tableware, and a customer support desk in the basement. Visitors can use Google Lens to scan products for specifications, reviews, and live price comparisons, create AI photo booth images in the Pixel Studio zone using Veo and Nano Banana, and try an immersive space powered by Google DeepMind’s in-development AI system, Genie 3. The store also offers on-site repair, warranty applications, Pixel Care+ extended warranty service, one-on-one consultations, and startup assistance for eligible devices, with same-day repairs available in some cases for Pixel 6a and newer phones and Pixel Watch 4 and newer watches.

Omotesando chosen for Google’s new flagship site

According to data cited from Japan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, Apple currently dominates Japan’s smartphone market with a 59% share, while Google phones account for 10%. The report described the market as highly competitive.

The newly opened Google Omotesando flagship store has set aside the basement level through the second floor as AI experience zones. Google chose the Omotesando and Harajuku shopping area, where international brands are concentrated, as a way to bring its products closer to consumers through in-person interaction and expand its user base in Japan.

A workshop area has been installed toward the back of the store and will regularly host seminars on Google’s latest services and products. The location also sells official Google merchandise, including Japan-exclusive canvas bags and tableware. A customer service counter in the basement provides repair assistance.

Customers can point a smartphone camera at an item and receive product information including specifications, customer reviews, and live price comparison details.

Pixel Studio features AI photo booth tools

On the second floor, Google has built a Pixel Studio experience zone to show the latest Pixel functions and a range of Gemini AI use cases. Visitors can create trendy photo booth images there, using the Veo video generation model and Nano Banana image generation tools for AI-produced pictures.

In the avatar creation area, visitors can also use Gemini to analyze a selfie and receive a customized identification badge.

Genie 3 powers an immersive interactive space

Visitors can enter any word they think of at the site, and the AI generates an immersive visual environment in real time. In that interactive zone, guests can try Google DeepMind’s in-development AI system called Genie 3, exploring a real-time generated 3D virtual world through preset or custom prompts.

Repair and customer support available on site

The basement level houses a customer support center offering on-site repairs, warranty applications, and Pixel Care+ extended warranty service. For Pixel 6a and newer smartphones, along with Pixel Watch 4 and newer smartwatches, repairs may be completed the same day depending on the situation.

The store also includes a separate consultation space with one-on-one support and first-time device setup assistance.

Opening hours and launch items

Google’s Tokyo Omotesando flagship store operates from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on weekdays, weekends, and holidays. To mark the opening, the store will also release limited-edition commemorative goods.
