Harvard University said in its annual financial report that its endowment gained 27.1% in fiscal 2026, marking its strongest investment return in five years and lifting the fund to nearly $68 billion. In the same disclosure cycle, the university’s second-quarter 13F filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission showed a $2.2 billion stake in SpaceX, making it the endowment’s largest single holding by market value. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. ranked next at just under $350 million. Harvard Chief Financial Officer Ritu Kalra and Treasurer Timothy Barakett said in the annual report that the return would strengthen the endowment’s long-term ability to support the university and that future distributions would gradually support Harvard’s work. Earlier disclosures had also shown that the endowment began investing in cryptocurrency as early as 2018.
