Kevin Hassett, director of the White House National Economic Council, said on Aug. 7 that he believes President Trump will not offer Fed Chair Kevin Walsh any advice on interest rates. Hassett's remarks came after Trump, when asked whether Walsh should hold off on rate hikes ahead of the midterm elections, said: "It's partly up to him, but not entirely. He's got a very political committee. It's not entirely up to him; it's up to the committee. I think he's excellent. I'm not going to criticize him."
