Techub News, citing U.Today, reported that SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce confirmed on the “Rollup” podcast that she will leave the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in November of this year. Her departure will bring an end to nearly three decades of professional life in Washington. After leaving the agency, Peirce will join Regent University School of Law as an associate professor.
Peirce’s term as an SEC commissioner expired on June 5, 2025. Under the relevant legal arrangement, she could have continued serving until December 2026. By confirming a November exit, Peirce has provided a clearer timeline for her departure from the regulator.
Peirce was appointed at the beginning of 2025 to lead the SEC’s crypto task force. Her exit will therefore leave a key leadership vacancy inside the agency. According to the Techub News report, the SEC will have only two active commissioners remaining after her departure.
