Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Rezaei said the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen unless the United States changes its behavior and accepts Iran’s conditions, according to an Odaily report citing Jin10. In the statement, Rezaei said the U.S. was responsible for insecurity in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, and accused واشنطن of putting the wider region in danger by imposing what he described as an illegal war on Iran. He also laid out several demands, saying the U.S. must end the war, release Iran’s frozen funds, and bring an end to conflicts across the region, including in Lebanon and Gaza. Rezaei added that any agreement between Iran and Oman on transit routes through the Strait of Hormuz would be handled separately from the issue of the strait’s closure.

Odaily reported, citing Jin10, that Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said the United States must accept Tehran’s conditions or the Strait of Hormuz will not reopen.

In the statement, Rezaei said the U.S. was the source of insecurity in the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf of Oman, and said Washington had placed the whole region at risk by imposing what he called an illegal war on Iran.

He said the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed unless the U.S. changes its behavior and accepts Iran’s terms.

Rezaei said those terms include ending the war, paying out Iran’s frozen funds, and ending wars across the region, including in Lebanon and Gaza. He added that other conditions had also been conveyed to the U.S. through intermediaries.

He also said that if Iran and Oman reach an agreement on transit passage through the Strait of Hormuz, that arrangement would be handled separately from the issue of the strait’s blockade.
