Italy's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has granted a blockchain payment patent to ticketing company AEP Ticketing Solutions, according to Spaziocrypto. The patented system supports direct settlement of bus tickets, highway tolls and parking fees in bitcoin and DOGE. It combines a ticketing server, public blockchain nodes and a user-side application for peer-to-peer on-chain settlement, with no bank or card network acting as intermediary. While the technology is now protected in Italy and internationally, no local transport operator has yet rolled it out to passengers.

Italian ticketing firm AEP Ticketing Solutions has received a blockchain payment patent from the country's Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, covering a system that settles transport costs in crypto.
