SBI Shinsei Bank, a major Japanese bank, has officially incorporated XRP cryptocurrency into its 2026 shareholder benefits program. Investors holding at least 100 shares can choose between XRP worth 2,000 JPY or a health supplement product. The move directly ties equity ownership to digital asset exposure within a regulated banking structure.
The board approved the program on February 25, 2026. Management stated the initiative aims to boost shareholder engagement and promote long-term holding after the bank's Prime Market listing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. Only shareholders listed in the register as of the record date qualify, with additional requirements: must be a Japan resident, at least 18 years old, and hold or open an account at SBI VC Trade Co., the group's crypto exchange platform.
Eligibility Conditions: Residency and SBI VC Trade Account Required
Benefits apply exclusively to accounts registered in the shareholder's own name. Application materials will be sent to the address on the shareholder registry. Product deliveries are limited to domestic Japanese addresses. Non-resident shareholders or those without an SBI VC Trade account cannot receive XRP rewards.
XRP Reward Option for 100+ Shares: 2,000 JPY or Supplement
Shareholders with 100 or more shares can pick between two options. Option one: a coupon code redeemable for XRP valued at 2,000 JPY, converted at the exchange rate scheduled for early December 2026. Option two: one bottle of ALA PLUS Gold EX, a supplement containing 60 tablets with a retail price of 11,800 JPY including tax. The cash value of the supplement is higher, but the XRP option offers direct crypto exposure.
Discount for Shareholders Under 100 Shares: 50% Off
Investors holding fewer than 100 shares, including odd-lot holders, receive a discount purchase application ticket. This ticket grants a 50% discount on selected products sold by SBI ALApromo Co. Reference retail prices are as of February 25, 2026. This design allows small shareholders to benefit, but only through supplement purchases, not XRP.
XRP Integration and SBI-Ripple Ties: Cross-Border Payments to Shareholder Incentives
SBI Bank described XRP as a cryptocurrency used within Ripple's distributed ledger ecosystem to enable faster and cheaper international remittances. SBI Holdings maintains an equity relationship with Ripple Labs. In 2016, both companies established SBI Ripple Asia to advance blockchain-based cross-border payment services in Japan and South Korea. The shareholder benefit program formally integrates XRP rewards into the corporate framework, extending XRP's role from payment infrastructure to shareholder incentives within the SBI ecosystem.
