The well-known Ethereum MEV Bot address Jaredfromsubway.eth was hit by a targeted “anti-MEV honeypot attack,” according to MarsBit. The loss from the incident exceeded $7.5 million. MEV Bots rely on automated strategies to capture opportunities around on-chain transaction ordering and execution, and in this case the attacker focused on the bot’s own trading and approval behavior.
66 Fake Contracts and Liquidity Pools Used as Bait
The attacker deployed 66 fake contracts and liquidity pools that were disguised as mainstream assets. These setups were used to lead Jaredfromsubway.eth into automatically executing transactions and granting permissions during the process. After the approvals were obtained, the attacker used built-in backdoors to remove assets from the bot.
The incident was described as a case of the “hunter becoming the hunted.” A top MEV robot that normally captures on-chain trading opportunities was itself exploited through a design aimed at its behavioral logic. The attack centered on the bot’s recognition, execution and authorization mechanisms, showing that MEV automation systems also face security threats at the behavioral-logic layer.
