Prediction market platform Kalshi has officially launched Bitcoin perpetual contracts, the company announced on X. The product, named BTCPERP, is referenced to the spot price of Bitcoin and structured as a perpetual contract. It has been classified as a futures contract by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
This is the first regulatory-approved Bitcoin perpetual contract in the United States, according to Kalshi. The CFTC previously stated that its review found BTCPERP compliant with the Commodity Exchange Act and applicable regulatory requirements, including the core principles for designated contract markets (DCMs).
With this launch, Bitcoin perpetual contracts have entered the regulated U.S. futures market for the first time, offering investors a compliant vehicle for trading Bitcoin-based perpetual futures. The move signals further integration of cryptocurrency derivatives into mainstream financial regulatory frameworks.
