Data from Kazakhstan’s Ministry of AI and Digital Development shows that certified miners and mining pools in the country produced 7,200 BTC from the start of 2023 through May 2026. Output peaked in 2024 at roughly 3,400 BTC. The ministry’s figures also show 78 miners are currently operating in Kazakhstan, with more than 465,000 mining devices registered. From 2023 to 2025, miners paid about 35 billion tenge, or roughly $75 million, in taxes, with most of that revenue coming from import value-added tax on equipment. The ministry said 81.5% of digital mining services are concentrated in the capital, Astana, where the Astana International Financial Centre hosts offices for exchanges including Binance and Bybit. Earlier, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed a law removing the requirement for miners to sell most of their mined output through exchanges at the Astana financial center.
