South Korea and US Discuss Semiconductor Investments, Tariff Policy Looms

A South Korean government official said Friday that South Korea and the United States are discussing Korean companies' semiconductor investments in the U.S. as part of broader bilateral consultations. When asked whether the chip tariff plan previously mentioned by U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is affecting the current investment talks, the official said: "There are various issues between South Korea and the United States, and sometimes these issues affect each other." He added that semiconductor investment is one of the investment-related topics under discussion. "We are working to prevent these issues from hindering each other," the official said. (Jin Shi)
