Kuaishou-backed Kling AI fully opened access to Kling 4.0 on Oct. 15, after Kling 4.0 Flash had been made available to some paying users for trial use in late September. The new model extends single video generation length from 15 seconds to 30 seconds and supports up to 10 keyframes, allowing creators to set character movements, scene changes, and camera pacing with more precision. Its reference system was also expanded. A single generation can now combine up to 15 assets, including images, videos, and character subjects. That allows users to borrow camera movement and action from an existing clip while swapping out roles, products, or backgrounds. According to a hands-on test cited in the report, generating one 30-second 1080P video requires 450 credits, which works out to roughly RMB 16 at the tested membership pricing, excluding the cost of repeated attempts. Kling also updated its creation interface with a timeline, canvas, and Agent features, while adding support for MCP and CLI calls. Still, some features remain unavailable: 10-bit HDR output has not yet opened, nor have video continuation for clips up to 2 minutes and the developer-facing Kling 4.0 API.

Kuaishou-backed Kling AI fully opened Kling 4.0 on Oct. 15. Before that, Kling 4.0 Flash had been released for trial use to some paying users in late September.

Kling 4.0 doubles single-generation video length

Compared with version 3.0, the new model extends the length of a single generated video from 15 seconds to 30 seconds. It also supports up to 10 keyframes, giving creators a way to specify character movement, scene transitions, and camera rhythm.

The platform’s all-purpose reference feature was also upgraded. A single generation can now combine as many as 15 source items, including images, videos, and character subjects. Creators can ask the AI to follow the camera movement and actions of an existing video, then replace the role, product, or background inside that structure.

Tested cost for a 30-second 1080P clip comes to about RMB 16

According to a hands-on test by Kazike, generating one 30-second 1080P video requires 450 credits. Based on that user’s membership pricing, the cost works out to about RMB 16, not including the expense of reruns.

Creation tools and calling methods were updated as well

Kling also upgraded its creation page by adding a timeline, a canvas, and Agent features. It now supports calling Kling 4.0 through MCP and CLI, allowing AI agents to generate videos automatically and produce materials in batches.

4K was already available, while HDR and the API are still pending

The report noted that 4K output is not a new addition, as version 3.0 already supported it. What is newly mentioned, 10-bit HDR output, has still not been opened. Video continuation for clips up to 2 minutes and the developer-facing Kling 4.0 API also remain unavailable.
