Bitcoin bullishness has come under fresh pressure as broader macro concerns push speculative markets into a more defensive posture. While digital-asset analysts still lean constructive, risk appetite has weakened and Bitcoin briefly fell below $80,000 for the first time in nearly a month. The latest pullback came as risk assets broadly retreated, with selling in U.S. AI-related equities adding to pressure across markets. Jeff Anderson, head of U.S. at STS Digital, said inflation data would "seriously hurt risk appetite," while markets are also moving into the Federal Reserve blackout period ahead of its policy meeting, leaving rate expectations clouded by uncertainty. Nick Forster, founder of Derive.xyz, said the market-implied probability of Bitcoin reaching $100,000 before Christmas fell 2.8 percentage points over the past 24 hours to 9.7%. Forster added that long-dated bullish positioning is being unwound quickly while demand for short-term hedging has jumped, a sign that institutional participants are rapidly reassessing macro risk exposure as the interest-rate outlook becomes less clear again. The report was cited by Bloomberg.

Crypto markets are being pulled in opposite directions. Digital-asset analysts still hold a bullish view, but speculative markets have shifted into defense mode and risk appetite remains under pressure.

Bitcoin briefly slipped below $80,000, the first time that has happened in nearly a month. A sell-off in U.S. AI stocks weighed on risk assets more broadly, knocking back the bullish sentiment the crypto market had been trying to rebuild.

Macro concerns hit demand for risk

Jeff Anderson, head of U.S. at STS Digital, said inflation data would "seriously hurt risk appetite." He also said markets are entering the Federal Reserve blackout period ahead of the next policy meeting, with rate expectations still highly uncertain.

Options pricing shows weaker odds of a six-figure Bitcoin by Christmas

Nick Forster, founder of Derive.xyz, said the market-implied probability of Bitcoin reaching $100,000 before Christmas fell by 2.8 percentage points over the past 24 hours to 9.7%.

He said long-term bullish bets are being pulled back quickly, while demand for short-term hedging has risen sharply. In his view, that shows institutional participants are rapidly reassessing their macro risk exposure as the rate outlook turns unclear again.

Bloomberg was cited as the source of the report.
