MaiCoin Group, the largest digital asset service provider in Taiwan with blockchain technology capabilities, has officially announced its initial public offering (IPO) plan and signed a first listing advisory contract with SinoPac Securities. Having operated in Taiwan for nearly a decade, the group’s platforms—MaiCoin trading service and MAX exchange—boast over one million registered accounts. Its Qubic NFT arm has helped more than 70 brands, including Taiwan Tigerair and Cathay Life Insurance, issue NFTs. Founder and CEO Alex Liu calls the IPO a starting point for mainstreaming digital assets. With the Financial Supervisory Commission clarifying its role as the industry regulator, Liu sees a positive environment for the listing. The group has been profitable for three consecutive years and expects another profitable year. Its team, including COO Chen Ming-hui who holds CAMS and ISO 27001 certifications, is committed to meeting financial compliance standards. MaiCoin’s move is seen as a milestone not just for the company, but for Taiwan’s broader financial market.

MaiCoin Group, established in December 2013, has evolved into Taiwan’s largest and only blockchain-native digital asset service provider. On the eve of its 10th anniversary, the company announced plans to go public in Taiwan, signing a first listing (IPO/OTC) advisory contract with SinoPac Securities. This marks a pivotal moment in the group’s journey from a crypto startup to a regulated financial entity.

A Decade of Building Trust and Infrastructure

The group’s ecosystem includes the MaiCoin digital asset platform, the MAX exchange, AMIS wallet custody, and the Qubic NFT integration service. Together, MaiCoin and MAX platforms have surpassed one million registered accounts. Qubic, since its 2021 launch, has onboarded over 70 corporate clients—such as Taiwan Tigerair, Hotai Motor, Cathay Life Insurance, Sushi Express, and Invoice Monster—issuing over 10,000 NFTs while its non-custodial wallet serves nearly 200,000 users. Notably, MaiCoin Group secured investments from Japan’s SBI Group and Taiwan’s National Development Fund, underscoring its institutional credibility.

Founder and CEO Alex Liu stated, “After almost 10 years, we can finally say that MaiCoin Group’s era is approaching. We have never stopped communicating with the government and the public about platform functionality, user experience, compliance, and regulation. Our goal has always been to make virtual currencies and NFTs part of everyday life. An IPO is not the end; it is yet another starting point for mainstream adoption of digital assets.”

Regulation as a Catalyst for Confidence

The collapse of FTX accelerated regulatory moves worldwide. In Taiwan, the Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC) has designated itself as the competent authority for virtual asset service providers and is set to issue supervisory guidelines. Alex Liu welcomed this development, saying clear rules will boost investor confidence in the local crypto industry.

COO Chen Ming-hui, who previously served at Fubon Financial and holds CAMS (Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist) and ISO 27001 auditor certifications, assured that the group’s professional financial background will help it navigate the IPO process. “We are ready to meet all financial supervisory standards,” she said, noting that the collaboration with SinoPac Securities will provide the necessary guidance to complete the listing.

Profitable Growth Without Hype

Alex Liu revealed that MaiCoin Group has achieved profitability for three consecutive years and expects 2023 to remain profitable. Asked whether a Taiwan-listed crypto stock would attract the kind of attention Cathie Wood’s Ark Invest gives to Coinbase, Liu responded with characteristic pragmatism: “We prefer to let our services, products, and financial reports speak for themselves. I am confident in Taiwan over the next five to ten years, and I hope the market gives innovation a real opportunity.” The group also demonstrated its commitment to the broader ecosystem by sponsoring the Blockchain Legal Forum 2023, which brings together industry leaders, legal experts, and regulators to build a more crypto-friendly legal framework in Taiwan.

As MaiCoin takes this landmark step, its journey reflects the maturation of the digital asset industry in Taiwan—from a niche technology to a regulated and investable sector, potentially paving the way for more homegrown crypto companies to follow suit.
