According to Techub News, citing Decrypt, Mastercard has launched Agent Pay for Machines, a platform designed for AI agent payment scenarios. The platform allows AI agents to autonomously complete payments through bank cards, bank accounts and stablecoins. It also supports payment use cases including microtransactions, providing a framework for machine-to-machine transactions to be executed in a more automated way.

More than 30 companies are participating in the initiative, including Coinbase, Ripple and OKX. Agent Pay for Machines is built to support high-frequency, small-value payments between machines and is described as having extremely low latency. These features place the platform within payment scenarios where AI agents need to settle transactions frequently and quickly.

Mastercard has also continued to expand its digital asset payment capabilities. Earlier this year, in March, the company launched a crypto partner program and acquired stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK. With the introduction of Agent Pay for Machines, Mastercard is extending its payment infrastructure across cards, bank accounts and stablecoins within a machine-to-machine transaction model.
