According to Protos, the first post appeared on Sunday and said the writer managed several McDonald’s accounts in Asia. The person claimed their boss, identified in the post as Amit Joshi, had not paid them since December 2025, forcing them to take two additional jobs in customer support and delivery.
The same thread also described the writer as an unsuccessful memecoin trader. In one post, they said they were starving because they had lost all of their money on those tokens. A final post in the thread said McDonald’s owed them ₹60,000, or about $650, and asked for community support. Protos said no memecoin had been linked to the posts, making it less likely that the account had been hijacked for a scam token promotion. McDonald’s India later labeled the posts as #fakenews, though some X users remained unconvinced. Protos said it had contacted McDonald’s for comment and would update the report if it received a response.

According to Protos, the first post went up on Sunday. The writer said they were an intern who managed several McDonald’s accounts across Asia and claimed that their boss, identified in the post as 「Amit Joshi」, had not paid them since December 2025.
The writer said the lack of payment left them with no choice but to take on two extra jobs, one in customer support and another in delivery.
Writer also described repeated memecoin losses
The person behind the posts also described themselves as an unsuccessful memecoin trader. In the thread, they said: 「I literally starve every day because I lose all my money on them.」
The final post in the thread said McDonald’s owed them ₹60,000, roughly $650, and added that they were hoping for community support.
No memecoin has been tied to the posts
Protos said no memecoin appears to have been linked to the posts. On that basis, the report said it is unlikely that the account was hacked as part of a scam memecoin promotion.
McDonald’s India later described the posts as 「#fakenews」. Protos added that some users on X were not convinced by that response.
Protos said it had reached out to McDonald’s for comment and would update the story if it heard back.
