Simon Gerovich, chief executive of Japanese Bitcoin treasury company Metaplanet, said the rise of AI is sharply reducing the cost of producing things that can be expanded in supply. In a post on X, he said software, content and analysis are all set to become cheaper and more abundant as AI spreads. Against that backdrop, Gerovich argued that Bitcoin’s fixed supply becomes more distinct. He said the 21 million BTC cap is protected by the network’s own rules, cannot be copied and cannot be diluted. He also pointed to Bitcoin’s ability to settle globally on a 24-hour basis. The remarks frame Bitcoin as an asset defined by non-expandable supply at a time when AI is lowering the cost of creating digital goods and services.
