Odaily reported that Strategy founder Michael Saylor addressed discussion around whether Strategy could sell bitcoin during an appearance at BTC Prague. Saylor said he had never stated that the company was unable to sell bitcoin. He explained that his repeated message in the past was that investors should not casually sell their own bitcoin, rather than that Strategy itself could never dispose of the bitcoin it holds.
Saylor Clarifies Strategy’s Position
According to Saylor, anyone who has followed Strategy’s earnings calls or public disclosure documents over the past five years should understand the company’s position clearly. He said Strategy has always made it explicit that the company would, of course, sell bitcoin when necessary, and that this wording has not changed.
The clarification separates Saylor’s comments aimed at individual investors from Strategy’s corporate asset management position. In Saylor’s description, his prior statements about not selling bitcoin lightly referred to how investors handle their own holdings, while Strategy, as a company, retains the option to sell bitcoin under necessary circumstances.
