Micron said it will grant fiscal 2026 compensation awards to more than 60,000 employees worldwide, describing the package as the largest in the company’s history. Taiwan, one of Micron’s key technology hubs with about 15,000 employees and cumulative investment of more than NT$1.6 trillion, is a major part of the plan. For Taiwan staff, the package includes a NT$1 million cash appreciation bonus for employees who joined on or before Aug. 29, 2025, with later hires receiving a prorated amount based on tenure. The company also outlined an annual performance bonus of up to 500% of base target and additional stock awards. Micron said production-line employees in Taiwan will receive total compensation equivalent to 35 to 68 months of salary. Micron added that fiscal 2026 cash compensation for Taiwan employees will start from NT$1.7 million. Entry-level engineers will receive average cash compensation of NT$2.9 million, rising to average total compensation of NT$3.4 million when stock awards, calculated by grant value, are included. The company also said annual performance-based pay raises and stock awards will reach 100% coverage. After Micron released the announcement before reaching consensus with the union, the union called for reform of the IPP bonus system and demanded a 15% profit-sharing mechanism tied directly to the company’s actual profits. Taiwan’s labor authorities said they have fully grasped the situation and remain in close contact with local governments and the Central Taiwan Science Park Administration.

Details of the Taiwan compensation package

In Taiwan, the fiscal 2026 package includes a NT$1 million cash appreciation bonus for each employee who joined on or before Aug. 29, 2025. Employees who joined after that date will receive the payment on a prorated basis according to their time with the company. The package also includes an annual performance bonus of up to 500% of base target, along with additional stock awards.

Micron said production-line employees in Taiwan will receive overall compensation equivalent to 35 to 68 months of salary.

According to the figures released by the company, fiscal 2026 cash compensation for Micron employees in Taiwan will start from NT$1.7 million. Entry-level engineers will receive average cash compensation of NT$2.9 million. Including stock awards calculated by grant value, their average total compensation will reach NT$3.4 million. Micron also said annual performance-based salary adjustments and stock awards will cover 100% of employees.

Union calls for changes to the bonus system

After Micron released the news before reaching consensus with the union, the union said in a statement, after collecting members’ views, that frontline workers are seeking system reform and equal-footed negotiations. It called for the IPP bonus system to be changed to a 15% profit-sharing model.

The union said a one-time bonus cannot solve the issue and that it wants a calculation basis directly linked to the company’s actual profits. If there is no response, the union said it will continue moving toward a strike.

Labor authorities say they are tracking the situation

Taiwan’s labor authorities said they have fully grasped the relevant information and are maintaining close contact with the Taoyuan City Government, the Central Taiwan Science Park Administration, and the Taichung City Government.
