Tokenized real-world asset manager Ondo Finance stated that current U.S. securities laws can support equity-linked perpetual futures without requiring new regulations, and that the products fall under the existing securities futures framework. On August 24, the firm submitted three comment letters to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), recommending the introduction of such products within the United States along with modern margin mechanisms and on-chain market data.
Ondo Finance's Panama-based affiliate has already been offering stablecoin-settled perpetual futures on U.S.-listed stocks outside the United States. As of August 14, the platform, which had been live for about six weeks, had recorded cumulative trading volume of $8 billion.
