OpenAI just doubled usage limits for ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium users, and the change is live right now. The news came early on Oct. 30 Beijing time from Thibault Sottiaux, OpenAI’s head of core product and platform. He framed it as part of the company’s "28 days of shipping" push.
This landed one day after OpenAI started handing out free API credits to ChatGPT Pro and Business users. And Sottiaux said the latest bump came after hearing from users.
Pro 200 tiers are now aligned
Before this update, new Pro 200 subscribers who signed up after Sept. 29 had already been cut to half the prior usage level. Existing users, though, were still on a grace period through Oct. 30. Now the rules have been reworked: people who kept the higher allowance still have it, while people on the lower allowance now get double usage. Same destination. Both groups now sit at the same level.
The report said the Pro 200 allowance has been restored to its earlier level. OpenAI has already updated its official help page and release notes to match.
What changed for Pro 200
For Pro 200, ChatGPT Work and Codex now come with usage set at 20 times the Plus plan. In chat mode, GPT-6 Pro can now be used for 200 messages per week, with no five-hour usage cap.
But the bigger allowance does not open up Ultrafast for Pro 200. That is still reserved for Pro 500.
Plus-tier limits have not changed.

Daily product updates continue
Since Oct. 5, Sottiaux had promised to ship updates tied to Codex and ChatGPT Work every day, or else offer a "reset." So far, OpenAI has pushed out interactive answers in GPT-6, Astra Pro parallel multi-agent support, GPT-6.1 Terra, plus a wider batch of changes around speed, caching, and usage limits.
According to the report, OpenAI is changing models, task execution systems, and access points all at once to make AI more useful for ongoing work. The higher limits are the easiest thing for users to spot. But changes to caching, response speed, and task collaboration are also expected to affect daily use.
Some web users are seeing a merged interface notice
The report also said some long-standing usage habits may be shifting. Some people using the web version of ChatGPT have already seen a notice saying chat mode and Work mode are being merged.

How usage limits will be counted after that merge is still unclear.
