OpenAI provided more detail at DevDay on changes to its Pro subscription lineup. The $200-a-month Pro 200 plan keeps the same price, but included usage for ChatGPT Work and Codex is being reduced from 20x the Plus plan to 10x. GPT-6 Pro inside chat is also being cut from 200 messages per week to 100.
For users who bought Pro mainly for the 20x allowance, that portion of the package is effectively being halved.
Existing Pro 200 users keep old limits until Oct. 29
According to a notice OpenAI sent to current subscribers, existing Pro 200 users will temporarily retain the original 20x allowance through Oct. 29. After that, their plans will move to the new quota structure.
The same notice offers a one-time grant of 62,500 usage credits, with a stated value of $2,500. Those credits expire at the end of the year and are meant to provide a transition period for the change.
Dot is added to Pro and does not use standard quota for direct tasks
OpenAI is also adding a primary Dot feature to Pro that does not count against regular usage limits. Dot is powered by GPT-6 Astra and can work 24/7.
If Dot completes a task directly, it does not consume Pro usage. If it hands the task off to Codex or ChatGPT Work, the request is billed against quota under the normal rules.
Tibo also said the base version of Dot will remain included in the subscription, while higher speed and larger bandwidth will be priced separately later on.
New $500 tier targets heavier users
For users with heavier workloads, OpenAI has added Pro 500 at $500 per month. The plan offers 25x the usage of Plus and exclusive access to Astra Ultrafast in ChatGPT Work and Codex.
The updated personal plan ladder is now:
- Plus: 1x
- Pro 100: 5x
- Pro 200: 10x
- Pro 500: 25x
With the $200 tier losing its standout 20x usage advantage, OpenAI is shifting part of the package value toward Dot while steering heavier users to the new $500 plan.
