Pi Network’s core team said in an update this week that stablecoins are being considered for use cases that need predictable pricing, including commerce, payments, accounting, and settlement. Even so, the team said their scope would be intentionally narrower than that of PI, which will remain the network’s primary digital asset.
The update said stablecoins could help generate more economic activity inside the ecosystem and reduce dependence on external infrastructure. At the same time, the team said any rollout would be handled carefully and that compliance remains a key factor in the process.
Pi Network also clarified several points that had not been finalized. It said there is still no confirmation that OUSD has been integrated into the Pi mainnet, and no launch date or details for any Pioneer rewards plan have been announced.
Earlier, Pi Network said it would work with Open Standard to explore the stablecoin market. Open Standard, according to the update, includes more than 200 participants across finance, payments, technology, and crypto. In the market, PI recently fell with the broader pullback, touched a three-month low of $0.078, then recovered slightly to above $0.081. Its market capitalization dropped to $915 million, ranking it No. 69 on CoinMarketCap.
