Binance and Polymarket have proposed a hard fork on the Polygon network to recover about 70.49 million stolen POL, valued at roughly $6.8 million, according to Odaily, citing Cointelegraph. The proposal would move the tokens from five attacker-controlled addresses into verified recovery wallets designated by the two platforms, while keeping POL’s total supply unchanged. Of the amount involved, 23.86 million POL is tied to a Polymarket-related address and 46.63 million POL is tied to a Binance-related address. Polygon block producers have already blocked transactions from the affected addresses, but that step is described as temporary and does not return the funds to their owners. The plan still needs governance approval before it can move ahead. It is also expected to be tested first on the Polygon Amoy testnet. A discussion is scheduled for Nov. 5, while the date for any mainnet hard fork has not been set.

Binance and Polymarket have proposed a hard fork for the Polygon network to recover about 70.49 million stolen POL, worth roughly $6.8 million, according to Odaily, which cited Cointelegraph.

The proposal covers 23.86 million POL linked to a Polymarket-related address and 46.63 million POL linked to a Binance-related address. Under the plan, the tokens would be transferred from five attacker-controlled addresses to verified recovery wallets designated by the two platforms. The proposal says POL’s total supply would remain unchanged.

Polygon block producers have already blocked transactions from the affected addresses. That restriction is temporary, however, and does not return the funds to their owners.

The proposal still requires governance approval. It is set to be tested first on the Polygon Amoy testnet. Discussion is expected on Nov. 5, and a date for a mainnet hard fork has not been determined.
