Several publicly listed companies that adopted digital asset treasury strategies have either abandoned or revised their Bitcoin reserve plans since 2026, according to a post on X by Matthew Sigel, head of digital assets research at VanEck. Sigel said Satsuma Technology, Bitdeer, Prenetics, Genius Group, Vaultz Capital and MAIA Biotechnology have sold all of their Bitcoin or digital asset holdings. He also said MARA Holdings, Strategy, Nakamoto, Smarter Web Company and Cango sold part of their Bitcoin positions to pay down debt, repurchase shares or add working capital. In addition, Exodus and DigitalX have shifted away from a simple accumulation approach and moved toward more active management of their digital asset holdings. The remarks point to a broader change in how some listed firms are handling crypto on their balance sheets.
