Russia's central bank disclosed in its latest Financial Stability Review that private investors in the country currently hold approximately 3.8 billion rubles in cryptocurrency-linked financial instruments, virtually unchanged from 3.7 billion rubles recorded six months prior. The flat reading signals that growth in market interest has entered a stagnation phase.

Examining the breakdown, around 1.7 billion rubles flowed into crypto-linked commercial bonds, while 5,600 investors held cryptocurrency futures positions totaling another 1.7 billion rubles. In the digital financial assets space, approximately 3,800 individuals committed 354 million rubles to products tied specifically to Bitcoin and Ethereum. Major Russian banking institutions including Sber and VTB serve as the primary issuers of these instruments.

On the exchange infrastructure side, the Moscow Exchange has progressively listed Bitcoin and Ethereum futures along with related ETF products. In May 2026, the exchange further expanded its crypto derivatives lineup by adding futures contracts for Solana, Ripple, and Tron.
