The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission have again postponed new disclosure requirements for hedge funds, pushing the filing deadline for Form PF to July 1. The move marks the fourth delay tied to the rule. Form PF is designed to give regulators a clearer view of private funds’ positions, leverage and risk exposure during periods of market stress, with the stated goal of spotting counterparty risk, margin pressure and potential systemic threats. The added reporting requirements had already drawn opposition from the private fund industry, where firms raised concerns that sensitive information, including investment strategies, could be exposed. In April this year, the SEC and CFTC also proposed revisions that would raise the Form PF reporting threshold for private fund assets under management from $150 million to $1 billion. That proposal has not been finalized.

According to Odaily, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission have again delayed new hedge fund disclosure requirements, extending the filing deadline for Form PF to July 1.

This is the fourth time the requirement has been postponed. The rule is intended to help regulators track private funds’ positions, leverage and risk exposure during periods of market volatility, so they can identify counterparty risk, margin pressure and potential systemic risk.

The added disclosure requirements had previously faced opposition from the private fund industry, with fund firms concerned that sensitive information, including investment strategies, could be exposed. In April this year, the SEC and CFTC proposed changes that would raise the Form PF reporting threshold for private fund assets under management from $150 million to $1 billion, but that proposal has not yet been finalized.
