Securitize said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korean technology company LG CNS to jointly develop tokenized asset and digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions in South Korea. The two companies also plan to explore tokenized funds, equities, and stablecoins, while looking for related opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region. The announcement lifted Securitize (SECZ) shares by nearly 8% to about $12.6 in early Tuesday trading before the stock later pulled back. Securitize listed on the New York Stock Exchange in July this year after merging with special purpose acquisition company Cantor Equity Partners II. The partnership comes as South Korea prepares new rules for tokenized securities. The country’s Financial Services Commission last week proposed a regulatory framework covering the issuance and distribution of tokenized stocks, bonds, funds, and other securities, with the plan set to take effect in February 2027. On the same day, LG CNS also launched a blockchain infrastructure platform aimed at helping banks and other financial institutions support stablecoins and tokenized securities. Securitize is one of the main players in the tokenized real-world asset market, which has grown to about $40 billion. According to RWA.xyz, tokenized equities have a market capitalization of roughly $3.2 billion, up 10.6% over the past 30 days.

Securitize said it has signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korean technology company LG CNS to work together on tokenized asset and digital asset infrastructure for financial institutions in South Korea.

The companies said they will explore tokenized funds, equities, and stablecoins, while also looking for related opportunities across the Asia-Pacific region.

After the announcement, shares of Securitize (SECZ) rose nearly 8% to about $12.6 in early Tuesday trading before later giving back part of the gain.

Focus on infrastructure for Korean financial institutions

The agreement centers on building infrastructure for tokenized assets and digital assets aimed at financial institutions in South Korea. Beyond the domestic market, the two sides said they will also examine opportunities tied to the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Securitize went public on the New York Stock Exchange in July this year after completing its merger with special purpose acquisition company Cantor Equity Partners II.

Announcement lands as South Korea drafts tokenized securities rules

The partnership was announced as South Korea moves ahead with a regulatory framework for tokenized securities. The country’s Financial Services Commission last week proposed rules covering the issuance and distribution of tokenized stocks, bonds, funds, and other securities.

Under the current plan, that framework is scheduled to take effect in February 2027.

LG CNS on the same day also launched a blockchain infrastructure platform designed to help banks and other financial institutions support stablecoins and tokenized securities.

Data from RWA.xyz shows tokenized equities have a market capitalization of about $3.2 billion, up 10.6% over the past 30 days.

Carlos Domingo on tokenized equities

Securitize CEO Carlos Domingo previously said that even limited adoption could have a bigger effect on the crypto market. He said tokenized equities could help push the total valuation of the crypto market to $5 trillion.
