Odaily reported that The Kobeissi Letter published a data analysis on X showing that the weight of the semiconductor sector in U.S. equities has continued to rise. According to the post, semiconductors now account for about 18.8% of the total market capitalization of the S&P 500, marking a new all-time high. The same figure has increased by more than three times since 2022.

Over the same period, the semiconductor index SOX has gained about 546%. The Kobeissi Letter’s analysis described this performance as evidence of the sector’s leading position in the current technology cycle, with the industry’s market value share in the S&P 500 rising alongside the index advance.

In historical comparison, the current semiconductor weighting in the S&P 500 is already more than half of the peak level recorded during the 2000 internet bubble period. The analysis said U.S. equity markets are continuing to concentrate around artificial intelligence and the semiconductor supply chain, while technology stocks’ influence on the broader index has reached an extreme historical level.
