SK Hynix is facing a prolonged standoff with labor over a proposal to pay performance bonuses in company stock, with part of its workforce now pushing to establish a new unified union. A preparatory committee has already been set up, and a related community has drawn about 4,000 employees, equal to 11.6% of the company’s total workforce. According to Yonhap News Agency, market participants said the dispute could add uncertainty to SK Hynix’s HBM capacity expansion in the second half if tensions spread to the production floor. The company began mass production and shipments of HBM4 in the second quarter of this year and plans to increase output later in the year. Production has not been affected so far, but an escalation that reaches manufacturing sites could pressure supply plans for major customers including Nvidia.
