SoFi Technologies has enabled XRP deposits on its platform, adding the token to its regulated crypto offering for U.S. retail users. The move gives XRP a new distribution channel inside a national chartered bank platform and highlights the growing overlap between traditional financial services and digital asset access.
XRP Added to SoFi’s Regulated Crypto Infrastructure
In an update shared on X on April 21, SoFi said it had expanded crypto accessibility on its platform. The company now supports XRP deposits alongside major digital assets such as bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), and solana (SOL). By bringing XRP into its existing crypto account structure, SoFi is broadening the range of assets users can manage within a single retail-focused application.
SoFi framed the addition within a regulated operating environment. The company describes its platform as a national chartered bank overseen by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Within that setup, users can buy, sell, and hold cryptocurrencies, and now also transfer XRP into their accounts. That context is important because it places XRP inside a banking-linked platform rather than a standalone crypto-native venue, potentially widening comfort and accessibility for mainstream users.
Deposit Support Spans Multiple Blockchain Networks
According to information published on SoFi’s website, users can currently deposit 12 cryptocurrencies into a SoFi Crypto account. Those assets are bitcoin (BTC), ethereum (ETH), USD Coin (USDC), chainlink (LINK), shiba inu (SHIB), uniswap (UNI), aave (AAVE), polygon (POL), Lido DAO (LDO), floki (FLOKI), solana (SOL), and XRP.
The supported transfer infrastructure spans several blockchain ecosystems, including the Bitcoin network, Ethereum network, Solana network, and XRP Ledger. That indicates SoFi is not only expanding the number of listed assets, but also supporting transfers across multiple chains, giving users more flexibility when moving assets into the platform.
Trading Lineup Reaches 27 Assets
Beyond deposits, SoFi’s broader crypto product includes 27 tradable cryptocurrencies. The trading list includes BTC, ETH, XRP, SOL, and USDC, along with dogecoin (DOGE), cardano (ADA), chainlink (LINK), avalanche (AVAX), stellar (XLM), sui (SUI), and bitcoin cash (BCH).
The platform also supports hedera (HBAR), litecoin (LTC), shiba inu (SHIB), uniswap (UNI), aave (AAVE), NEAR Protocol (NEAR), ethereum classic (ETC), polygon (POL), arbitrum (ARB), cosmos (ATOM), sei (SEI), bonk (BONK), Lido DAO (LDO), floki (FLOKI), and tezos (XTZ). Together, the list reflects a diversified retail trading environment that combines large-cap assets with a broader selection of altcoins and ecosystem tokens.
Ripple Ties Access to Utility Growth
Ripple publicly highlighted the SoFi update on April 21, linking increased access to broader participation in the XRP ecosystem. In a post on X, the company said: “More access to XRP with SoFi means more people can participate, and that’s exactly how utility grows.”
The comment fits Ripple’s long-running argument that distribution, usage, and practical availability are central to XRP’s network value. Rather than introducing a new standalone product, the SoFi update expands an existing access point inside a regulated fintech and banking framework. From Ripple’s perspective, that kind of availability can strengthen consumer familiarity and increase real-world engagement over time.
Why the Update Matters
While SoFi’s crypto business already covered a broader set of transfer and trading services, the specific addition of XRP deposits stands out because it places the asset inside a more established and compliance-oriented consumer finance channel. For U.S. retail users, that can translate into an easier and potentially more trusted route to hold and manage XRP within the same app they use for other financial services.
More broadly, the development reflects a continuing trend in which digital assets are being integrated into regulated financial platforms rather than remaining limited to crypto-native exchanges. As that convergence deepens, assets like XRP may gain visibility through familiar interfaces, regulated account structures, and multi-asset portfolio tools. SoFi’s latest update does not reinvent its crypto offering, but it does meaningfully extend XRP’s reach within the U.S. retail market.
