BlockBeats news, September 4 – Solana core developer team Anza stated that token rent reduction has gone live on mainnet beta. The first step of Solana proposal SIMD-0437 was activated at epoch 1028. This is the first of five feature gates aimed at reducing Solana's per-byte storage cost by 90% overall.
Step 1 reduced the required lamports per byte from 6,960 to 6,333. Each subsequent gate will only be activated after passing a state growth check under the current rent level. The team will safely and gradually lower the rate to the final 696, rather than following a fixed schedule.
