Sonic Labs has set a final deadline for its current airdrop cycle: about 32.69 million unclaimed S tokens can become eligible for permanent on-chain destruction after October 15, 2026. The tokens remain locked in the Season 1 and Season 2 airdrop contracts, and the project said there will be no extra minting to cover missed claims once that cutoff passes.

Unclaimed allocations remain locked in two airdrop contracts

According to details shared by Sonic Labs, the unclaimed S allocation is still sitting inside the airdrop contracts rather than being left open indefinitely. October 15, 2026 now stands as the final date for this process. If eligible wallets do not claim before then, those locked tokens move into a state where they may be burned instead of distributed later through the same mechanism.

Eligible NFT holders can still claim before the deadline, but timing matters. Claims submitted before full unlock may face a penalty, meaning users could receive less than their full allocation if they claim early. That leaves participants with two routes: claim sooner with a reduction, or wait for the full unlock window and collect without penalty before the final cutoff.

Season 1 and Season 2 follow separate unlock calendars

For Season 1, claims stay open with a penalty until April 18, 2026. From April 18, 2026 through October 15, 2026, holders can claim in full with no penalty. Season 2 uses a later schedule: claims remain subject to a penalty until May 24, 2026, then shift to full, penalty-free claims from May 24, 2026 until October 15, 2026.

Once that final date passes, any remaining locked S tokens may be removed from supply permanently. Sonic Labs said the contract itself supports the burn after the burn date arrives, and anyone can trigger it on-chain. The destruction path is built into the contract logic rather than framed as a separate manual step.

Sonic already burned 16 million S earlier in 2026

This would not be the first time Sonic has used a burn to close out unclaimed allocations. The report notes that the project burned 16 million S tokens from Season 1 earlier in 2026. If the current 32.69 million unclaimed tokens end up following the same path, the burn would be much larger and would mark the final stage of the present airdrop process.

On future distribution plans, the company said it is moving away from a broad incentive model and toward a more targeted growth approach. Sonic Labs added that the remaining incentive allocation is reserved for future airdrops, incentives, or possible burns. One limit is explicit: there is no additional minting planned for these missed allocations, so unclaimed tokens under this process will not simply be reissued later.
