Strive bought 2,000 BTC last week and disclosed a repurchase facility of up to $500 million for SATA, its variable-rate perpetual preferred stock, according to a Monday Form 8-K.
The Dallas-based company said it paid an average of about $84,422 per bitcoin, including fees and expenses, for purchases made between Sept. 28 and Oct. 2. The buy totaled $169 million and lifted Strive’s holdings to 29,462 BTC from 27,462 a week earlier.
CEO Matt Cole wrote on X that Strive acquired 2,000 BTC at an average cost of $84,422 per coin, bringing total holdings to 29,462 BTC. The latest purchase was larger than any of the company’s previous four weekly buys, which ranged from 469 BTC to 1,375 BTC.
SATA funding and repurchase plan
Cole said 61.5% of the capital raised came from SATA. He also said warrant exercises brought in $56.7 million.
The filing showed SATA shares outstanding increased by about 1.3 million during the week to roughly 13.5 million. Shares underlying Strive’s traditional warrants fell by about 2.1 million.
Strive said it has implemented a repurchase facility of up to $500 million for SATA, which management may use from time to time. None of the company’s previous four weekly bitcoin filings mentioned such a facility.
The company said it views bitcoin as attractively priced at current levels. As long as bitcoin stays below $100,000, management aims to push its amplification ratio above 60% and keep it there.
That ratio stood at 55.3% on Sept. 30, matching SATA’s $1.29 billion stated amount divided by the $2.34 billion value of Strive’s bitcoin holdings. The company also said it intends to remain debt-free.
Third-quarter snapshot
Strive added 8,137 BTC in the third quarter at an average cost of $78,885. As of Sept. 30, it held 28,000 BTC bought at an average of $90,170, above the $83,577 bitcoin price used in the filing for that date.
Its total treasury came to about $2.68 billion, including $284.7 million in cash and $50.2 million of Strategy’s STRC, with no debt.
Strive also reported a quarter-to-date BTC Yield of 18.5%, its measure of the change in bitcoin held for each share. The company said the quarterly figures are preliminary and unaudited.
