Talos, a leading institutional digital asset trading and portfolio management platform, has announced the acquisition of blockchain data provider Coin Metrics in a deal valued at over $100 million, marking the creation of the digital asset industry's first fully integrated institutional data and investment management platform.
Deal Overview: $100M+ Merger of Data and Trading Infrastructure

The combined entity will integrate Coin Metrics' market data, blockchain analytics, and indexes with Talos's institutional-grade trading and portfolio management system, providing a comprehensive one-stop solution for institutional digital asset workflows.
Executives Weigh In
Anton Katz, CEO of Talos, stated, 'We are thrilled to welcome Coin Metrics to Talos. This combination creates a fully integrated solution that benefits our clients across the entire investment lifecycle, including trading, portfolio management, data, and analytics.' He emphasized the critical role of data for large institutional clients.
Tim Rice, CEO of Coin Metrics, remarked, 'Joining forces with Talos represents an exciting next chapter.' Both firms believe that the pervasive adoption of digital assets requires robust infrastructure for scaled trading, investment, and risk management. Their combined expertise aims to deliver the industry's most powerful institutional platform.
Global Reach and Talos's Acquisition History
Boston-based Coin Metrics will gain access to Talos's global network, which includes offices in New York, London, Cyprus, and Singapore, serving clients across 32 countries. The announcement on Wednesday noted that both firms are trusted by major global financial institutions.
Talos, backed by investor Citigroup, has previously expanded its institutional platform through several acquisitions, including risk management firm Cloudwall, DeFi infrastructure provider Skolem, and portfolio construction platform D3X Systems. This deal continues its strategic expansion into providing end-to-end infrastructure for institutional digital asset adoption.
