Tezos held its fifth annual global developer and creator gathering, Tezdev 2026, on March 30 in Cannes, France, shifting focus from theoretical infrastructure to concrete applications. The free event took place alongside the Ethereum Community Conference and showcased major innovations in blockchain interaction.

XP Zone: Bridging Code and Tangible Experience

The flagship addition this year was the XP Zone, a 360-degree immersive room where attendees could interact live with projects currently being built on the Tezos network. To further boost engagement, the event introduced Tezquest, a series of hands-on challenges spread across project booths. With a prize pool of $7,000, participants competed while learning about innovations from ecosystem leaders.

“TezQuest is designed as an interactive layer of TezDev, transforming the event into a hands-on experience rather than just a series of talks,” said Linda Witters, Senior Marketing Manager at Trilitech. “Instead of passively listening, attendees explore ecosystem projects, tackle challenges, and directly interact with teams building on Tezos.”

Specific challenges included developing market-making strategies with decentralized exchange Hanji and testing the latest mobile games launched on the network. Other participating projects included Ledger, Uranium.io, and Sogni, while Art on Tezos and Fortify Labs highlighted the creative community and the next generation of Tezos accelerators.

Technical Advancements: Etherlink Confirmation Under 50 ms

This year’s agenda moved from theoretical blockchain infrastructure to practical application. Tezos co-founder Arthur Breitman delivered a keynote on the network's next phase, emphasizing how products and user experience must evolve to accelerate global adoption.

Technical sessions unveiled details of Tezos X, the network's ambitious scalability roadmap. François Thiré of Nomadic Labs explained how Tezos solves cross-runtime coordination at the protocol level. Engineers discussed recent advancements in Etherlink (Tezos' EVM-compatible Layer 2), including reduction of transaction confirmation time from approximately 500 milliseconds to less than 50 milliseconds.

Yann Régis-Gianas of Nomadic Labs demonstrated how AI agents are directly integrated into Tezos’ software development lifecycle. A panel moderated by Trilitech's Ben Elvidge explored the transition from proof-of-concept to real-world asset liquidity.

Ecosystem Growth: TVL Surges 6,200%, NFT Sales Top 500K

The conference followed a transformative year for the Tezos ecosystem. Etherlink’s total value locked (TVL) surged over 6,200% after launching the Apple Farm incentive program, attracting major protocols like Uniswap (via OKU), Gearbox, and Lombard Finance.

Tezos also continued to dominate the “clean” NFT space, recording over 500,000 sales in 2025 and forming institutional partnerships with the Processing Foundation and the Museum of the Moving Image. The day concluded with an immersive art exhibition celebrating generative and on-chain artists, reinforcing Tezos as a premier destination for digital culture.

Tenx Protocols Acquires 5.54M XTZ

In a notable parallel development, Tenx Protocols expanded its footprint in the Tezos ecosystem by acquiring 5.54 million tez (XTZ) worth $3.25 million in January 2026, aligning with Tezos’ on-chain governance model and signaling institutional confidence.
